Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Manager for Launch Vehicle Electronics Systems to create strategies for PCB, PCBA, electrical components, and instrumentation. You will manage a global supplier base, drive cost-reduction projects, and collaborate with engineering on manufacturability and BOMs.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree with 3+ years in engineering/purchasing/contract negotiation; or Bachelor's with 5+ years; or 9+ years in related fields.
• Experience in electronics procurement, PCB/PCBA, components, or instrumentation preferred.
• Experience reading drawings, fab drawings, stack-ups, datasheets, and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Create sourcing strategies for electronics categories to reduce risk and meet targets (payment terms, cash, cost).
• Develop and manage domestic and international supplier base; enforce category strategies.
• Collaborate with suppliers to implement sourcing and cost-management for existing platforms and new product development.
• Identify and execute cost-reduction projects (piece price, yield, tooling, obsolescence) with planning and updates.
• Perform spend, capacity, and financial impact analysis of sourcing decisions.
• Evaluate demand, place and manage POs, and track supplier delivery performance.
• Run RFIs, RFPs, RFQs; conduct RFx and implement sourcing decisions.
• Define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers; monitor and develop supply base.
• Guide engineering on suppliers, manufacturability, and BOM reading; ensure prototype/ramp/rate readiness.
• Visit supplier facilities to assess capability, financial health, capacity, and risk before awards.
• Mitigate sole-source risk; negotiate contracts for continuity of supply and SpaceX interests.
• Collaborate with internal teams to drive low-cost part adoption and obsolescence avoidance.
• Present value propositions to management: contracts, cost reviews, and supply issues.
• Coordinate with material planners to align demand/inventory with build plan; own supplier and cost.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
