Job summary

RTX in El Segundo, CA, is seeking an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to advance advanced EO systems, including imagers, LIDAR, and tracking. The role requires deriving design and performance requirements and supporting IV&V activities.

You will work within the Electro-Optical System Design Department to assess mission requirements, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and help mature system architectures for aerospace programs requiring DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physics, Optics, or related STEM field by start date.
• Experience with electro-optical infrared imagery and focal plane tech.
• Knowledge of optical principles, imaging systems, detectors.
• Hands-on experience with optical testing or alignment.

Responsibilities

• Assess system requirements and derive design and performance requirements for subsystems and units.
• Support IV&V planning and verification activities to meet program requirements.
• Contribute to architectural trade studies and system design reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver electro-optical systems (imagers, LIDAR, tracking).
