Job summary

Raytheon in El Segundo seeks an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to support the Advanced Products & Solutions Mission Area by developing advanced EO systems, including imagers, EO tracking, LIDAR, and directed energy systems. This role involves assessing mission requirements and deriving design and performance needs for subsystems, plus supporting IV&V planning.

You will collaborate with EOSD engineers to translate system requirements into verifiable designs and contribute to testing strategies

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optical or related STEM major obtained by start date.
Experience with electro-optical infrared imagery, focal plane technology, lenses, or apertures.
Experience with fundamental optical principles including geometrical optics, physical optics, imaging systems, aberrations, or detectors.
Hands‑on experience through coursework or lab work with optical testing or alignment.

Responsibilities

Support the EOSD Department in providing systems engineering expertise for Electro-Optical Systems (EOS).
Contribute to developing requirements and assessing system architecture for imagers, EO tracking, LIDAR, and directed energy systems.
Assist in verification and validation planning and IV&V activities to meet program requirements.
