Job summary

RTX's Electro- Optical System Design Department in Goleta, CA is seeking an Electro Optical Systems Engineer to support the Advanced Products & Solutions Mission Area. You will help develop imagers, LIDAR and directed energy systems, deriving design and performance requirements and supporting IV&V activities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optics or a related STEM field, experience with EO imagery and optical testing, and programming in C++ or Python; DoD Secret clearance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optical, or related STEM major obtained by start date.
Experience with electro-optical infrared imagery, focal plane technology, lenses, or apertures.
Experience with fundamental optical principles including geometrical optics, physical optics, imaging systems, aberrations, or detectors.
Hands‑on experience through coursework or lab work with optical testing or alignment.

Responsibilities

Support Space and Airborne Systems by providing EOS systems engineering expertise.
Assist in assessing systems architecture and deriving design and performance requirements for subsystems.
Support verification and validation activities and IV&V planning.
