Job summary

RTX is seeking an Electro‑Optical Systems Engineer in McKinney, TX to join the EOSD Department. The role focuses on developing and building advanced electro‑optical systems, including imagers, EO tracking, LIDAR, and directed energy systems.

You will assess requirements, derive subsystem specifications, and support IV&V planning while collaborating with a design team in a secure, onsite environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optical, Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date.
• Experience with electro-optical infrared imagery, focal plane technology, lenses, or apertures.
• Experience with fundamental optical principles including geometrical optics, physical optics, imaging systems, aberrations, or detectors.
• Hands‑on experience through coursework or lab work with optical testing or alignment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to assessing systems architecture, developing requirements for electro‑optical systems, and supporting design/build efforts.
• Derive design and performance requirements for subsystem and unit levels and assist in IV&V planning.
