Job summary

RTX is seeking an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer in McKinney, TX, onsite. You will help design and build advanced electro-optical systems, including imagers, tracking, LIDAR, and directed energy, and contribute to requirements, verification, and IV&V planning.

The role requires a Master’s in a STEM field and hands-on optical testing experience, with preferred skills in C++, Python, MATLAB, and signal processing. Onsite work with security clearance eligibility is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Science, Engineering or Mathematics obtained by start date.
• Experience with electro-optical infrared imagery, focal plane technology, lenses, or apertures.
• Experience with fundamental optical principles including geometrical optics, physical optics, imaging systems, aberrations, or detectors.
• Hands-on experience with optical testing or alignment.

Responsibilities

• Assess systems architecture and derive design and performance requirements for EO subsystems.
• Develop requirements and support design, integration, and IV&V planning for EOS hardware.
• Collaborate with the design team to verify and validate optical system performance.
