Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a field technician responsible for installation, programming, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying and metering systems used in transmission and distribution. The role ensures reliability and safety of electrical systems through diagnostic evaluations and coordination of repairs.

Candidate must travel domestically and internationally up to 25–75% and perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning in industrial, data center, and utility environments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant electrical experience with a high school diploma or associate or bachelor’s degree in related field.
• NETA/NICET certification preferred or equivalent hands-on testing experience.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA electrical safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Programs, installs and maintains protective relaying and metering equipment; performs electrical tests and repairs on in-service relays to prevent faults.
• Uses test equipment safely in energized rooms, vaults, and substations.
• Interprets schematics and wiring diagrams to locate defective equipment and coordinate repairs.
• Maintains detailed test reports and documentation for compliance and client review.
