Job summary

TEAM Industrial Services, Inc. is seeking a Heat-Treating Technician with Electrical Resistance expertise to independently perform PWHT and preheat operations using electrical resistance methods on piping, vessels, and weldments.

Role includes preparation, monitoring, and documenting heat cycles in field and shop environments. Preferred candidates bring experience in induction or combustion heat treating, a safety-first mindset, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–5 years of hands-on electrical resistance heat treating (ERHT) experience in industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of ceramic heating pads, controller programming, thermocouple application, and insulation layout.
• Familiarity with weld joint preparation and applicable codes (ASME, API).
• Ability to read P&IDs, isometric drawings, and equipment specifications related to heat treatment scopes.
• Willingness to travel and work in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and related settings.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and obtain TWIC/DISA access credentials.
• Safety-first mindset and ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Set-up, operation, and breakdown of electrical resistance heating systems, including controllers and thermocouples.
• Perform PWHT and preheat activities per procedures and codes.
• Lay out and install heat-treating blankets, insulation, and thermocouples.
• Program, monitor, and record temperature cycles with control units and recorders.
• Interpret weld procedures, stress relief specs, and heat-treat drawings.
• Troubleshoot equipment, wiring, and temperature control issues on-site.
• Coordinate with welders, inspectors, and client representatives.
• Maintain logs and charts for QA/QC and reporting.
• Follow safety procedures for electrical equipment and high temperatures.
• Train assistants and junior technicians as assigned.
• Perform rigging and general labor related to site access equipment.
