Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on designing, analyzing, and upgrading medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial clients from concept through commissioning.

You will lead electrical scope on projects, mentor junior staff, and interact with clients. We expect strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE standards, and experience with power system studies and protection settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Minimum of 3 years electrical power systems engineering experience in industrial, utility, or consulting.
• Demonstrated experience designing/modifying medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems.
• Hands‑on modeling and study experience in SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent — building models from field data.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain power system models and perform load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic, and cable ampacity studies.
• Develop protective relay settings and coordination; produce settings files and test plans.
• Design and review electrical design deliverables (diagrams, schematics, wiring, interconnection diagrams).
• Size and rate equipment and conductors; verify protection and duty ratings.
• Ensure NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards compliance in designs.
• Lead electrical scope on projects; coordinate with other disciplines; mentor engineers and designers.
