Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join our growing team in a hybrid/remote setup based in the United States. You will design, analyze, and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial clients, guiding concepts through detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

You will lead electrical scope on medium to large projects, set technical direction, and mentor engineers and designers while collaborating with clients and vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in industrial/utility/consulting.
• Experience designing/modifying medium- to low-voltage power distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain power system models and perform load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic, and cable ampacity studies.
• Develop protective relay settings and coordination; produce settings files and test plans.
• Design and review grounding systems per IEEE 80/81; perform soil resistivity interpretation and ground grid modeling.
• Size and rate equipment including transformers, cables, buses, breakers, fuses, and switches; verify withstand duty.
• Ensure NEC/NFPA 70E/IEEE compliance; review studies and reports for clients.
• Lead electrical scope on projects and mentor junior staff.
