Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to lead the electrical scope on medium- to large-scale projects. You will design, analyze, and upgrade power distribution and generation systems for industrial energy clients from concept through commissioning.

You will mentor engineers, develop protective relay settings, and coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process teams while interfacing with clients and vendors. Hybrid/remote work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience in industrial, utility, or consulting.
• Experience designing or modifying medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems (1 kV–38 kV).
• Hands-on modeling with SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower; building models from field data.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards (1584, IEEE 80, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain power system models from field data and perform load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic, and cable ampacity studies.
• Develop protective relay settings and coordination for feeder, transformer, motor, generator, and bus protection; produce settings files and test plans.
• Design and review electrical design deliverables: diagrams, schematics, and interconnection diagrams.
• Size and rate equipment and conductors; verify duty for transformers, cables, switches, and breakers.
• Review field and vendor submittals; support factory acceptance testing and commissioning.
• Lead electrical scope on moderate to large projects; coordinate with other disciplines and interface with clients.
