Job summary

Modular Mission Critical is seeking an Electrical Tester to support protective relaying and metering systems in transmission and distribution environments near Richmond, VA. You will test, diagnose, and repair relays, meters, transformers, and switchgear, employing a range of test equipment and following strict safety practices.

With 2+ years of electrical experience and a engineering degree, you will collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure reliable power delivery, on-site testing,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of relevant electrical experience with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
• NETA / NICET certification preferred or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical testing.
• Strong understanding of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Programs, installs and maintains protective relaying and metering; analyzes test results and locates defective equipment.
• Proficiently uses hand and power tools, meters in energized rooms, vaults, and substations to install, maintain and repair.
• Reads schematics and substation drawings; reviews and corrects wiring diagrams and inspections.
• Programs and operates test equipment; follows safety protocols and procedures.
• Commissions new relay and metering installations and coordinates testing with other departments.
• Maintains/test relays and equipment such as generators and meters; performs troubleshooting and replacements as needed.
• Participates in emergency call-outs and performs other duties as assigned.
• Produces detailed test reports and supports commissioning and startup with engineers and clients.
