Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing, LLC seeks an experienced field technician to install, program, test, and maintain protective relaying and metering systems in transmission and distribution environments around Richmond, VA.

You will interpret schematics, perform diagnostics, and coordinate repairs to ensure reliability and safety. Travel up to 50% may be required domestically and internationally; you will work with portable test equipment, document results, and support commissioning and startup

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant electrical experience OR associate’s degree and 2+ years of relevant electrical experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of relevant electrical experience
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25–50%
• Possess a valid/active U.S. Work Authorization
• NETA / NICET certification (preferred) or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical testing
• Strong understanding of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA electrical safety standards

Responsibilities

• Programs, installs and maintains protective relaying and metering; performs electrical tests and repairs to evaluate in-service relays
• Analyzes test results and interprets electrical diagrams to locate defective equipment
• Proficiently uses hand and power tools, meters and test equipment in energized electrical rooms, vaults and substations
• Interprets schematics, wiring diagrams and substation drawings; conducts inspections
• Programs and operates test equipment; follows safety practices per handbook
• Commissions new relay and metering installations
• Coordinates testing, troubleshooting and repairs with other departments
• Maintains test reports and documentation for compliance and client review
