Job summary
Layton Construction Company is seeking an Electrical Estimator to perform MEP estimating, budgeting, and bidding for assigned projects in Houston, Texas. You will review plans, prepare quantity take-offs, solicit subcontractor bids, analyze bids for conformance to specifications, and develop costed proposals while coordinating with architects, clients, and operations.
This role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–3 years of MEP estimating experience, plus proficiency with Take
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction engineering, mechanical or electrical engineering or related field.
- 2–3 years of MEP estimating experience.
- Strong estimating, budgeting, purchasing, negotiation, and computer skills.
Responsibilities
- Review plans and architectural drawings; prepare quantity take-offs for assigned projects.
- Solicit subcontractor bids for MEP projects.
- Review and analyze bids for conformance to project specifications and cost factors.
- Maintain current information on trends in construction codes to ensure complete bids.
- Use software to calculate, record, and track estimates; manage cost databases.
- Interface with clients, vendors, and internal staff to discuss and formulate estimates.
