Job summary

WSP USA in Denver, Colorado is seeking an ESSP Electrical Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on electrical studies, SCADA and system protection within the ESSP group, working on projects across power delivery and generation facilities.

The successful candidate will apply knowledge of three-phase power, protection schemes and coordination, and will participate in design and planning studies while supporting field activities and client needs. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree in electrical-related field.
• Experience: 3–5 years in design or device configuration in power systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and permitting processes.
• Analytical mindset with sound judgement and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in teams and manage multiple tasks.
• Proven ability to write technical reports and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical studies, SCADA and protection work.
• Assist with protective relaying, relay settings and coordination.
• Support planning studies: power flow, voltage stability, contingency analysis.
• Contribute to design studies: grounding, insulation coordination, transient analysis.
• Develop network/communication specifications for RTUs, HMIs and SCADA.
• Travel to project sites to test and commission systems.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation.
