Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an ESSP Electrical Engineer for our Portland, OR office with consideration for Boise, ID; Seattle, WA or Clarkston, WA. You will contribute to protective relaying, planning studies, and design studies within the ESSP team.

Responsibilities include generating reports, supporting project teams, and ensuring safety and quality in all work. Travel may be required as projects demand. This role requires a strong foundation in power systems and electrical engineering principles.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 3–5 years of design or device configuration experience in relevant disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and design/build processes.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement for complex issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with engineers and non-engineers.
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work independently or within a team to meet objectives.
  • Willingness to travel as project needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Protective Relaying: short-circuit analysis, coordination, relay settings, NERC compliance.
  • Power System Planning Studies: steady-state, voltage stability margins, contingencies.
  • Design Studies: grounding, insulation coordination, power quality, transient analysis.
  • Write technical reports with findings and conclusions and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with risk identification, design concepts, construction, mitigation and remediation work.
  • Assist with work plan preparation and field/site coordination and permitting.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Uphold safety policies and company conduct.
