Job summary

HDR is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support Battery Energy Storage Systems projects across multiple locations. You will contribute to conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, and the detailed design through to construction packages.

Responsibilities include evaluating energy storage technologies, performing technical reviews, and coordinating with civil, structural, and other engineers. PE licensed professionals with AutoCAD/Revit/SKM/AGI/EasyPower skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and EasyPower.

Responsibilities

• Support grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects from conceptual layouts to Issue For Construction packages.
• Evaluate and analyze energy storage technologies, products, and vendors for client selection.
• Develop detailed electrical engineering designs for microgrid and distributed energy resources projects.
• Prepare design plans, specs, cost estimates, and construction documents at milestones.
• Identify and implement use-cases for battery energy storage systems in centralized and distributed locations.
• Develop written technical reports conveying BESS concepts and feasibility results to diverse audiences.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, FLS, high-voltage electrical, SCADA/telecom, water, and geotechnical engineers.
• Participate in design reviews with stakeholders and permitting agencies.
• Support updates to internal design guidelines, catalogs, and templates for BESS projects.
• QA/QC on the work of other electrical engineers, designers, or technicians.
