Job summary

HDR, Inc. is hiring for a design-focused electrical engineer to support Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects. You will evaluate technologies, develop comprehensive design packages, and coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical teams to deliver robust solutions.

The role requires a PE license, a background in power systems, and experience with NEC/IEEE standards. Travel up to 10% is expected as projects span multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Requires a Professional Engineer license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
• Proficiency with Power Market Sector design software (PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Support grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects from concept to construction packages.
• Evaluate energy storage technologies and support vendor selection and implementation.
• Develop design plans, technical specs, cost estimates, and construction documents for BESS.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical engineers to complete design packages.
• Prepare technical reports communicating BESS concepts and feasibility results.
• Conduct design reviews with clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Assist with development of design guidelines, catalogs, and templates.
