Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an electrical engineer to advance battery energy storage system projects across multiple U.S. locations.

You will develop layouts, one-line diagrams, and construction-ready packages while evaluating storage technologies and vendors. You will coordinate with civil, structural, high-voltage, SCADA, and geotechnical teams to ensure compliant, safe designs. You will also generate technical reports, lead design reviews, and contribute to internal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a PE license are required.
• Design experience with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and local codes is required.
• Experience in BESS, power generation, renewables, or controls is preferred.
• Strong technical writing and practical design skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support BESS projects with layouts, one-lines, and design packages.
• Evaluate energy storage tech, vendors, and support selections.
• Develop and review design plans, specs, cost estimates and docs.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, FLS, high-voltage, SCADA, and geotech teams.
• Prepare technical reports on battery storage concepts and feasibility.
• Assist in design reviews and update internal guidelines.
• Provide QA/QC and construction-phase support including RFI and CPR.
• Mentor junior staff and support business development.
