Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Sterling, VA seeks an Electrical Engineer - Level 3 to join the Flatsat design team onsite. You will define requirements, select hardware, and integrate the Flatsat System with avionics units before delivery.

This role involves hardware-in-the-loop testing, rack and harness design, and collaboration with software and hardware engineers across programs. A STEM degree with experience and SCI clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5 years of professional experience OR Master’s with 3 years OR PhD with 1 year.
• Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance (SCI)
• Proficient with integrated hardware design (analog, power, digital)
• Proficient with rack, panel, cable design and schematics
• Proficient with lab test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes)
• Familiar with high-speed serial interfaces (TCP/IP, SPACEWIRE, LVDS, RS422/485, 1553)
• Proficient with electrical/mechanical design tools (Visio, CREO, Zuken)
• Strong communication and ability to work in small teams
• Technical leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Rack, panel, and cable design, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Developing certification procedures
• Hardware checkout/troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
• Interfacing with spacecraft subsystem designers and software/engineering teams
• Lead on varying programs within Flatsat design team
• Provide fabrication guidance for HITL Rack and Testbed
