Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Level 3 to join our Sterling, VA team. This 100% onsite role focuses on Flatsat system development, including requirements, hardware selection, and testbed integration with avionics.

You will work in a small team, defining interfaces, creating harness connections, and delivering a complete Flatsat system to support space programs. The position requires a STEM degree with extensive experience, SCI clearance, and strong wiring,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 8 years of professional experience OR Master’s with 6 years OR PhD with 3 years.
• Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance at time of application.
• Proficient with integrated (analog, power, digital) hardware design.
• Proficient in rack design, panel design, cable design, and schematic layouts.
• Proficient with lab test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes) for debugging.
• Familiar with high-speed serial interfaces (TCP/IP, SPACEWIRE, LVDS, RS422/485, 1553).
• Proficient with electrical/mechanical design tools (Visio, CREO, Zuken).
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in small teams; technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Rack, panel, and cable design; electrical interconnects and schematics.
• Developing certification procedures for hardware.
• Hardware checkout and troubleshooting with root-cause analysis.
• Interface with spacecraft subsystem design and software engineers; procurement and assembly teams.
• Lead the Flatsat simulation hardware on multiple programs.
