Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to contribute to the Federal Programs Team across Boise, ID; Overland Park, KS; Madison, WI; or Virginia Beach, VA offices. You will be involved in facility and infrastructure design from inception to completion.

The role covers development of electrical plans and specs, power distribution modeling, lighting design, and field construction support. Travel within the US may be required.

Qualifications

  • Requires BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited) or equivalent.
  • 5–7 years of electrical engineering design experience on capital projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC, ANSI/IEEE, NFPA, and ICC codes.
  • Able to pass security background checks for access to facilities (US citizenship may be required).
  • Experience in engineering consulting environment.
  • Ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans and specs.
  • Experience with CAD/BIM tools and construction observation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Designs electrical systems for a wide range of projects.
  • Involved from concept through construction on facility and infrastructure work.
  • Deliver design projects in design-bid-build, Design-Build, or Alternative Delivery.
  • Develop electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, layouts, and electrical plans.
  • Perform load analysis, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, voltage drop calculations, and related analyses.
  • Prepare contract documents with electrical plans and specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to address design issues.
