Job summary

WSP is seeking an ESSP Electrical Engineer for our Phoenix, AZ office with consideration for candidates in San Diego, CA; Los Angeles, CA; or Sacramento, CA. Join the ESSP Team focusing on protective relaying, power system planning, and SCADA integration across generation, substation, and transmission projects.

You will perform electrical studies, develop relay settings, and contribute to design and field activities, with opportunities to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BSEE/BSEET/BSCE degree required.
  • 3–5 years in design or device configuration in electrical power disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of three-phase power and power system fundamentals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical studies, SCADA, and system protection analyses.
  • Develop protective relaying schemes, relay settings, and coordination studies.
  • Conduct power system planning studies, voltage stability analysis, and dynamic performance assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports with findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with field staff and project managers to execute tasks on schedule.
  • Travel to project sites to commissioning and deployment activities as required.
