Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Controls Systems Engineer for our Lynchburg, VA facility. You will develop PLC programs, review specifications, and commission complex motion-based controls.

The role emphasizes testing, troubleshooting, process optimization, and maintaining schematics while ensuring regulatory compliance and collaboration with engineering teams. U.S. citizenship and DOE clearance ability are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 7+ years of experience.
Moderate knowledge of PLC, HMI and controls programming (Rockwell/AB, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E/79 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910 standards.
Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication; teamwork is essential.
U.S. Citizenship is required; ability to obtain DOE clearance.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

Develop PLC programs for complex control systems.
Develop and review design and functional specifications.
Develop test plans and commission motion-based controls.
Perform control systems testing and troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
Analyze plant processes for improvement and optimization.
Create and peer-review schematics for new and existing equipment.
Specify and procure instrumentation and controls for equipment.
Ensure compliance with internal processes and regulations; support installations.
