Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Lynchburg, Virginia, is seeking an Electrical System Design Engineer to join the Advanced Technologies group. You will support diverse programs across manufacturing, medical isotopes, and reactor design, using your electrical engineering fundamentals to design and document systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 4+ years of experience, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. On-site in Lynchburg with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical or similar) is required.
• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience is required.
• Must have demonstrable ability to recognize and solve problems and recommend solutions to technical problems.
• Must be self-directed with minimal day-to-day supervision and capable of working both as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications is required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE or DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Utilize system and interface requirements to prepare engineering documentation, drawings, analyses, and reports.
• Drive requirements for and support test activities and data analyses.
• Support procurement activities of vendors implementing components and systems to BWXT specifications.
• Lead the creation of electrical schematics and output documentation.
• Coordinate with mechanical, system, nuclear, and design engineers.
• Present design results to internal and external stakeholders.
