Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Reactor Operations Engineer to provide operational insights to design engineers and help develop reactor operating strategies that ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.

This on-site role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics, 4+ years in nuclear operations, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a DOE/DOD clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics is required.
• At least four (4) years of experience in nuclear operations or engineering is required.
• Familiar with the interrelationships and dependencies of reactor systems – and their response as an integrated power plant system.
• Must have experience with operation and maintenance of reactor equipment.
• Ability to collaborate through influence within matrixed organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizen required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE or DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of reactor operating strategies.
• Lead creation of reactor operating procedures for normal and off-normal conditions.
• Coordinate across disciplines to implement safe, efficient plant operations.
• Support reactor simulator development and design reviews from an operations perspective.
• Develop operations training materials for internal and external use.
