Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) System Design Engineer for onsite work in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The role involves developing control system requirements, architectures and interfaces, and selecting I&C hardware including sensors, PLCs, processors and embedded controllers. The position requires a broad background in I&C and electrical systems, seven years of related experience, and the ability to obtain DOE/DOD clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics required.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience.
• Design experience in instrumentation and/or control systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing.
• U.S. citizen; ability to obtain DOE/DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop control system requirements, architectures and interfaces.
• Perform setpoint calculations and logic development for diverse systems.
• Prepare design documentation including system design descriptions and setpoint documents.
• Specify I&C hardware: sensors, PLCs, processors, I/O devices and embedded controllers.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and support proposals and RFQs.
