Job summary

Amazon is seeking an entry-level Hardware Development Engineer I to contribute to electrical and controls sub-component design for material handling systems within One MHS. You will gain hands-on experience in power distribution, controls design, and industrial communication protocols while collaborating with mechanical, software, and project teams.

The role emphasizes learning end-to-end product knowledge, producing design schematics, BOMs, and trade studies, with guidance from senior engineers

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hardware design and validation of components, subsystems and systems experience
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
• Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems
• Experience with design, wire-framing, and prototyping tools
• Familiarity with UL 508A panel design standards or NFPA 70E

Responsibilities

• Design electrical sub-components for power and controls systems, including 3-phase and single-phase distribution elements
• Develop electrical layouts, schematics, and panel designs under guidance from senior engineers
• Create component drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation using CAD modelling software
• Develop control system architectures with IPCs, PLCs, and SCADA systems
• Prototype and test electrical and controls sub-components to validate designs
• Ensure compliance with NEC/NFPA 70 standards and safety requirements
