Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks an Electrical Power Engineer to join the Electric Power Division, designing, developing, and implementing generator control switchgear systems.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems from concept through commissioning. You will execute retrofit and new system projects, convert legacy PLCs, and develop PLC and HMI applications while partnering with CAD designers for wiring and assembly drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (BSEE/BSEET) or equivalent experience.
• Experience with automation and controls; PLC-based systems and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform risk assessments and support field performance of projects.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams, including escalation.
• Train and support technicians and customers on maintenance and operation.
