Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in the United States—remote/work-from-home capable for this role—seeks an electrical engineering professional to design, implement, and commission generator control switchgear systems.

You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems across retrofit and new projects. You will define scope with dealers and factories, develop PLC/HMI applications, and mentor technicians, with travel 35-50% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
