Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking an Engineer II, Electrical BoP in a mid-level role dedicated to enhancing balance of plant systems across renewable assets. The candidate will perform short-circuit and arc flash studies, develop ETAP models, and support NERC compliance efforts across multiple projects.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in power systems, familiarity with protective relaying and device coordination, and strong data-analysis skills to support reliable operation and growth.

Qualifications

• Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Physics.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred, and working towards a Professional Engineer (PE) certificate.
• A minimum of 3 years in power systems engineering with experience working on short-circuit and arc flash studies.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience with operating and analyzing high voltage power systems equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review short-circuit studies and arc flash hazard analyses for electrical systems.
• Recommend mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy levels.
• Prepare technical documentation, including one-line diagrams, protective device coordination, and arc flash labeling.
• Develop and maintain accurate electrical system models using ETAP.
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to gather system data and validate inputs.
• Provide technical support for NERC standards (e.g., PRC-019, PRC-024) and conduct studies for compliance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline processes and methodologies for power system studies.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NEC/NESC standards.
