Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a mid-level Engineer II, Electrical BoP Engineer in Austin, TX. The role focuses on balance of plant systems for renewable generation assets, including transformers, cables, relays, breakers, and power plant controllers.

You will perform protection coordination, conduct power system analyses, and support NERC compliance to ensure reliable operations. The candidate should have about 3 years of experience with BOP and substation systems, interpret single-line and

Qualifications

BS in Electrical Engineering or physics; 3+ years in power systems.
Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred; pursuing PE.
3+ years in power systems with short-circuit/arc flash experience.
Knowledge of NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC, NESC, OSHA.

Responsibilities

Perform and review short-circuit studies and arc flash analyses.
Recommend mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy.
Prepare one-line diagrams, protective device coordination, and arc flash labeling.
Develop and maintain electrical system models using ETAP.
Collaborate with project teams to gather system data and inputs.
Support NERC standards (PRC-019, PRC-024) and related studies.
Coordinate with stakeholders to improve power system study processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC).
