Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a mid-level Engineer II, Electrical BoP to support balance-of-plant electrical systems for renewable generation assets. The role emphasizes short-circuit and arc-flash studies, ETAP modeling, and NERC compliance across substation and BOP components.

The candidate will review system documentation, provide technical support to cross-functional teams, and ensure safety and reliability in power systems, with travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Physics.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred; working toward PE.
• Minimum 3 years in power systems engineering with short-circuit and arc-flash studies.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with high voltage power systems equipment.
• Experience with substation/BOP systems and protective relaying.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review short-circuit studies and arc flash hazard analyses.
• Recommend mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy.
• Prepare technical documentation including one-line diagrams and device coordination.
• Develop and maintain electrical system models using ETAP.
• Collaborate with project teams to gather data and validate inputs.
• Provide technical support for NERC standards (PRC-019, PRC-024).
• Coordinate with stakeholders to streamline power system study processes.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC, OSHA, and related codes.
