Job summary

Ampirical is seeking a Field Distribution Specialist II to design and support electric distribution projects, focusing on territory work, new line extensions, and reinsulation. You will collect field data, draft layouts, and produce construction packages while coordinating with crews and engineers.

Travel is primarily within the state; you’ll design to safety and regulatory standards, develop designs with senior staff, and grow into advanced distribution design with a strong emphasis on accuracy

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, drafting/design, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
• 2+ years of experience in electric distribution design or related utility work.
• Working knowledge of electric distribution systems, equipment, and design practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform field assessments and data collection for territory work, new line extensions, and reinsulation projects.
• Design and draft distribution layouts, ensuring compliance with standards and safety regulations.
• Prepare detailed construction packages including drawings and material lists.
• Assist with pole replacement designs as needed.
• Support senior designers on reconductor and tie-line projects.
• Coordinate with internal teams and field crews to clarify design intent.
• Ensure work adheres to safety policies and regulations.
• Design and submit permits for DoT and other authorities as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and update design systems.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and team efficiency.
