Job summary

Amgen in South San Francisco seeks an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHSS) Manager to lead world-class EHSS in a Research and Development laboratory environment, focusing on industrial safety, chemical safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.

You will influence R&D leadership, drive proactive process improvements, manage risk reviews, incident investigations, change controls, and partner with engineering, project managers, and facilities.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or equivalent in EHSS or a related science field.
• Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience may be accepted per listed criteria.
• Advanced knowledge of risk management and regulatory compliance in chemical/biological labs.

Responsibilities

• Provide EHSS program leadership and influence across R&D labs.
• Lead risk reviews, incident investigations, and change controls.
• Develop and implement industrial safety and chemical safety procedures.
• Collaborate with Engineering, PMs, and Facilities to drive improvements.
