Job summary

Amgen is hiring an Environmental, Health & Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Manager in Thousand Oaks, CA. You will partner with Manufacturing, QA, QC, Facilities, and Engineering to drive a world-class safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance across operations.

You will champion risk management, lead CAPAs, and advance continuous improvement in safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence within a fast-paced biotech setting.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or advanced degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or related field with EH&S focus.
• Multiple pathways outlined: Master’s with 2+ years EHSS in cGMP manufacturing; Bachelor’s with 4+ years; Associate’s with 8+ years; High school with 10+ years.

Responsibilities

• Partner with QA, QC, Manufacturing, Facilities & Engineering, and Warehouse to strengthen proactive safety culture.
• Own EHS programs: hazardous gas safety, LOTO, confined space, fall protection, environmental compliance.
• Lead ergonomic assessments to improve worker well-being and reduce injuries.
• Develop and implement comprehensive EHS risk assessments and controls.
• Use EHS data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Conduct inspections, compliance assessments and field observations for safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into change management.
