Job summary

Amgen in Cambridge, MA is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Manager to lead site contractor safety, own high-hazard work programs, and drive risk reduction across laboratories and facilities. The role blends field engagement with program ownership and collaboration with EHS colleagues.

The position emphasizes guidance, training, and incident learning to strengthen site controls and ensure compliance with Amgen standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in EH&S or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of science/tech EH&S experience or higher, or higher.
• 8+ years of science/tech EH&S experience in lieu of a degree considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead site contractor safety oversight with Facilities and Engineering; review risk assessments, permits, training, and readiness.
• Maintain high-hazard work programs (contractor management, LOTO, fall protection, machine guarding).
• Interpret Amgen standards, regulations, and site controls; identify gaps and implement risk reduction.
• Coordinate early EHS considerations in project planning and change reviews.
• Conduct field visits, inspections, and risk-based audits; engage workforce for effective controls.
• Provide guidance and coaching on hazard recognition, permits, and EHS programs.
