Acara Solutions is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist for a direct placement with Edwards at their Basom, NY facility. The role centers on building and maintaining a strong environmental, health, and safety culture across manufacturing operations.

This individual will interpret regulations, conduct risk assessments, lead incidents investigations, and perform audits and training to ensure safe, compliant processes at Edwards’ Basom site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in advanced manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and inspections.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and engage employees at all levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in industrial and cleanroom environments and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for processes and equipment.
• Evaluate hazards related to chemicals, high-voltage equipment, compressed gases, and cleanrooms.
• Lead investigations of EHS incidents with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Conduct routine EHS audits, inspections, and follow-up activities.
• Develop, deliver, and track EHS training for employees and contractors.
• Support training related to hazardous materials, lockout/tagout, and emergency response.
• Oversee environmental programs involving waste management, air emissions, and chemical storage.
• Support sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain emergency procedures, evacuation plans, spill response, and first-aid programs.
• Prepare EHS reports and maintain records of incidents, inspections, training, and permits.
• Evaluate PPE requirements and ensure proper use.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and external contractors to integrate EHS.
• Review EHS plans for contractors and monitor on-site compliance.
• Promote continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
