Job summary

North American Dental Group is seeking an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our patient‑centered practice network. This role supports dentists with charting, fillings, operatory setup, and patient education, contributing to high‑quality care.

The ideal candidate will hold EFDA certification or state‑required on-the-job training, radiography licensure, CPR, and proficiency with dental charting software and digital x-rays.

Qualifications

  • EFDA certification or state-approved training is required.
  • Radiography licensure as per state requirements.
  • CPR certification is required and kept current.
  • Proficient with dental charting software and digital x-rays.
  • Experience with MS Office is a plus, comfort with dental software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist doctors with charting, fillings, operatory setup/cleanup and patient education.
  • Perform expanded duties per state regulations and compliance.
  • Support procedures: fillings (amalgam/composite), temporary crowns, sutures, fluoride applications.
  • Record and review patient health history; chart entries under doctor; ensure signed forms.
  • Enter and update patient treatment plans as directed by the treating clinician.

Responsibilities

Skills Required to Make a Great “Impression” on Our Team



  • Assists doctors which includes but is not limited to charting, placement of fillings, operatory set/clean up, and patient education.

  • Able to perform expanded duties following state regulations and compliance.

  • Assists in clinical procedures and treatment such as: placing amalgam or composite fillings, adaptation of temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments. Limitations due apply per state requirements.

  • Records and reviews patient health history, makes chart entries under the doctor's direction and assures completion of forms and signatures in dental software.

  • Enters and updates patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating


Qualifications

  • EFDA Certification or on the job training required per state requirements

  • Radiography licensure for respective state requirements

  • 1-5 years of experience preferred; will consider new graduates

  • CPR Certification is required

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Knowledge of dental charting software and digital x-rays with the ability to learn new programs as necessary
