Job summary

East Lansing Public Schools in Michigan is seeking a Network Support Technician (1.0 FTE) in the Technology & Media Services Department to ensure daily technology needs are met for students and staff. You will be the primary IT contact for staff and students, maintaining devices, software, and network connectivity across school sites.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in network management or related field is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft AD, DNS, DHCP.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Linux Server, and Hyper‑V.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Intune and Entra.
• Knowledge of Google Admin Console.
• Knowledge of backup systems (Synology Active Backup for Business or Veeam).
• Familiarity with PowerSchool SIS.
• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with confidential data and provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 220 pounds on wheels.

Responsibilities

• Responds to technology issues in a timely manner and assists non-technical users.
• Installs, maintains, and upgrades PC workstation hardware, software, and peripherals; ensures devices connect to the District network.
• Installs and updates Chromebook, laptop, desktop, and tablet devices; ensures devices connect to the District network; performs diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Performs diagnostic troubleshooting on multimedia equipment (projectors, cameras, audio, docking stations).
• Assists with workstation image development and software installation.
• Assists with updates and configuration of network printers and print management software; coordinates printer repairs.
• Installs, maintains and updates telephones; ensures connectivity with District network.
• Assists with patch management and antivirus implementation.
• Assists with network infrastructure maintenance and diagnostics of cabling, jacks, patch panels and racks.
• Demonstrates the ability to configure and support network electronics, including switches.
• Maintains accurate inventory of devices, hardware, software, wireless and multimedia equipment.
• Performs, coordinates, and assists with projects and events; collaborates with other technical staff as needed.
