Job summary

Lansing School District is hiring a Technology Support Technician in Lansing, MI. The role focuses on diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues for students and staff, setting up new computer systems, and delivering friendly, patient support via phone, email, or in person.

The technician will perform routine maintenance, document problems and fixes, and collaborate with IT colleagues to improve district-wide IT infrastructure. A valid MI driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum associate degree in a Technical Field OR certifications like CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), etc
• Minimum 1-3 years of IT experience
• Strong customer service skills to assist and support users with patience and empathy
• A valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation are necessary
• Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
• Bachelor (4-year) degree, with a technical major (Preferred)
• Four to six years IT experience including, but not limited to:
• Windows 10/11 Support
• Help Desk Support
• Printer Support
• Remote Desktop Tools
• Ticketing Software

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end-users, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption
• Set up new computer systems, software applications, and peripheral devices, ensuring they are configured correctly and meet user requirements
• Provide technical support to users via phone, email, or in-person, guiding them through problem resolution and answering their technical questions
• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patches, and backups to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure
• Create and maintain detailed records of technical issues, solutions, and procedures to aid in future troubleshooting and knowledge sharing
• Work closely with other IT professionals to address complex issues, implement new technologies, and improve overall IT infrastructure
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from colleagues, managers, and professional development sessions
• Build relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure a safe, welcoming, and collaborative work environment
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
