Job summary

Ohio State University in Columbus is seeking a Desktop & Education Support Specialist to join the OCIO | Customer Solutions team. You will provide professional computer support across Windows and Mac OS, working with faculty, staff, and students both on-site and remotely.

The role includes deploying and maintaining workstations, supporting classroom audio-visual systems, and training users on equipment. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least two years of desktop

Qualifications

• Two years of experience supporting desktop computers in Windows or Mac environments.
• Experience with audio/visual equipment used in teaching, meeting, and event spaces.
• Ability to work in a team and take initiative to work independently.
• Ability to maintain and manage information and documentation in an organized, systematic way.
• Professional experience providing customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional computer support for OCIO customers on Windows and Mac OS.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, and network issues.
• Install, configure, and set up workstations and peripherals; track inventory.
• Deploy classroom maintenance plans; perform on-site and in-shop repairs.
• Assist with classroom AV setup and video/audio equipment.
• Train users in proper use of instructional computing equipment.
• Install new technology in classrooms and perform upgrades.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance in classrooms.
• Communicate outages; track and report computing environment status.
• Serve as team lead for complex help desk projects; on-site support.
• May be on-call escalation; may require evenings/weekends.
• Travel to other OSU campuses for training.
