Roles and Responsibilities:

Role Summary:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or EDM machines.
  • Work with materials such as castings, forgings, screw machine blanks, turret lathe blanks, sawed blanks, and bar stock.
  • Perform setup tasks including changing chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, boring bars, drills, reamers, and setting tools, as well as programming CNC machines and making offsets to ensure acceptable parts.

Essential Responsibilities

In addition, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes.
  • Work with various materials such as castings, forgings, and bar stock.
  • Change chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, boring bars, drills, reamers, and set up tools.
  • Follow Lean Manufacturing guidelines including one-piece flow, standard work, 6S, setup reduction, and wet process lines.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards for safety and efficiency, including cleaning chips and managing fluids.
  • Make decisions based on experience and data.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 6 months of machining experience with CNC lathes and/or mills.
  • Experience or successful completion of classes in geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:

  • Ability to lift, move, and manipulate fixtures and hardware up to 25 lbs., with or without accommodations.

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to verify work using micrometers, gages, and surface plates.
  • Ability to operate both CNC and manual equipment concurrently.
  • Effective team player in a cellular environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to produce error-free products and accurately complete paperwork.
  • Experience machining high-temp materials like Inconel, stainless steel, titanium, etc.
  • CMM operating experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and aerospace standards.
  • Ability to follow written instructions precisely.
  • Set-up experience including loading offsets and program edits.
  • Optical comparator experience.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final offers are contingent on obtaining necessary authorization from the U.S. Government for non-U.S. persons.
