Job summary

Portland Public Schools seeks a dedicated Educational Technician III to support students in the Breathe Program at Longfellow Elementary. The program is a district‑wide behavioral and social‑emotional initiative designed for students with significant needs, offering a self‑contained, flexible learning environment with dedicated staff to support IEP goals and access to general education over time.

Qualifications

• Approval as an Educational Technician III by the Maine Department of Education; Maine conditional or professional certification acceptable.
• CPI training certification preferred.
• College degree with nine education-related credits and at least one year of experience working with students in structured situations.

Responsibilities

• Promotes student learning and safety; supports behavior plans and IEP goals.
• Implements PSPs, BIPs, and ITPs; assists with crisis de‑escalation as needed.
• Supports instruction and classroom management; tracks data and progress; assists with non‑instructional duties.
• Maintains FERPA confidentiality and collaborates with the Special Education team.
