Job summary

Portland Public Schools seeks a dedicated Special Education Ed Tech III to support students in the Functional Life Skills program at Moore Middle School. Under the supervision of the Director of Specialized Programs and the Principal, the Ed Tech assists the SPED teacher by promoting learning, reinforcing instruction, and monitoring progress in data and Mainecare billing documentation.

Qualifications

• Approval as an Educational Technician III by the Maine Department of Education.
• Maine provisional or professional teacher certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree with nine credit hours in education or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students with personal care and daily living tasks
• Assisting with academic and functional instruction under teacher direction
• Supporting students during community-based instruction and vocational activities
• Facilitating social interactions and peer engagement
• Maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Provides specially designed instruction to students with IEPs
• Implements lesson plans and follows schedules created by the teacher
• Maintains data collection and collaborates with related service providers
• Participates in crisis intervention training and uses de-escalation techniques
