Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Part-time Patient Access specialist in Lock Haven, PA. You will coordinate patient access across scheduling, registration, referral and denial management under department leadership, with shifts across 7a-3:30p, 3p-11:30p, and 11p-7a at least monthly.

Responsibilities include maintaining the ADT system, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting payments, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant patient data.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years' healthcare experience OR 1 year in medical/billing OR 6 months in a UPMC Patient Access position preferred.
• Medical Terminology and understanding of managed care regulations are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and maintain First Net Emergency Department Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system.
• Ensure accurate registration into ADT/clinical systems during downtime with monitoring and reconciliation of every patient for accuracy.
• Counsel patients regarding insurance coverage and expected financial liability; collect payments including co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles.
• Maintain patient privacy and HIPAA compliance; obtain signatures and consent to treat and financial responsibility.
• Communicate with clinical partners to ensure open communication and data integrity of accounts.
• Obtain or update demographic and insurance information; perform timely patient interviews and bedside registration.
• Complete all forms and communications, obtaining necessary signatures for treatment and financial responsibility.
