Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. You will assist with regulatory compliance efforts for federal, state, and local environmental projects.

You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop DQOs, QAPPs, SAPs, and exposure models, and you will contribute to project tasks and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and data interpretation for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Develops data quality objectives (DQOs), QA Project Plans (QAPPs), and sampling and analysis plans (SAPs).
• Plans for and prepares conceptual site exposure models (CSEMs), HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs of basic to high complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approach and implementation.
• Provides technical evaluation of project documents and supports client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff for growth within the discipline and firm.
• Collaborates with sales staff to support proposals in response to RFPs.
• Contributes to technical knowledge with white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Attends and presents at conferences to improve visibility of firm products and services.
• Performs other duties as required.
