Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. You will assist with regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local environmental programs in CDM Smith’s portfolio.

You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop DQOs, QAPPs, SAPs and exposure models, while guiding junior staff and engaging with clients on technical matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field (or Master’s degree) is required.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required, as duties demand.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and analysis for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Assists with development of data quality objectives (DQOs), QA/QC plans, and sampling plans.
• Prepares exposure models (CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, BERAs) for basic to high complexity projects.
• Collaborates with scientists and engineers to define project approaches and execute investigations or remediation.
• Provides technical evaluation of client project documents and participates in client meetings.
• Mentors junior staff and supports sales in responding to RFPs.
• Contributes to knowledge by drafting white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Presents at conferences and symposia to raise firm visibility in collaboration with sales staff.
