Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants seeks a Project Restoration Engineer to lead restoration and water-resource design across the Great Lakes region and beyond. You will apply hydraulics, hydrology, and geomorphology with AutoCAD Civil 3D, coordinate permitting, and guide field data collection for complex ecological projects.

The role offers hybrid or distributed remote work from a Chicago-area office with opportunities to grow within a 100% employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE license required.
• 4+ years of ecosystem restoration design experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for field data collection and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project tasks, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
• Develop stream/wetland restoration and living shoreline designs.
• Conduct field investigations and analyses to refine designs.
• Prepare construction drawings, specs and contract docs.
• Coordinate permitting with agencies and clients.
• Perform modeling to support design optimization.
