Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Staff-level Restoration Engineer to support eco-restoration and water resource engineering in the Great Lakes region. You will contribute to stream, wetland, and living shoreline projects, with travel about 20% and a hybrid/remote work arrangement.

The role emphasizes collaboration with senior engineers, field data collection, and preparation of technical documentation, along with modeling and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Agricultural, Biological, Civil, Environmental, or Coastal).
• 1 year of ecosystem restoration design experience or equivalent.
• Knowledge of erosion control, stormwater and civil site design principles.
• Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Supports restoration project designs including streams, wetlands, and living shorelines.
• Performs field investigations and collects data for design verification.
• Assists in permitting and regulatory documentation with project teams.
• Performs construction oversight and verifies adherence to specs.
• Supports modeling and calculations to optimize designs.
• Participates in multidisciplinary team planning and professional development.
